Second Cropping Potatoes Collection (3kg)
Second Cropping Potatoes Collection (3kg) from Fothergill's includes three 1kg packs, one each of Charlotte, Pentland Javelin and Maris Peer, offering a delicious late-season harvest perfect for fresh, home-grown spuds at Christmas. These tubers are stored under controlled conditions to remain dormant until mid-summer, ready to plant in late July or August. Crops are typically ready in around two months and can be left in the soil until required.
Charlotte is the French-bred, highly popular salad potato, with smooth skinned tubers, light yellow flesh and a delightfully waxy texture. Maris Peer is a traditional variety ideal for boiling, chips or wedges, holding its colour and structure well in cooking with firm, creamy flesh under smooth yellow skin. Pentland Javelin is one of the most disease-resistant varieties, producing smooth-skinned, white-fleshed, round potatoes with excellent flavour.
Plant as soon as received; no chitting is needed. For best results, grow in a sheltered, frost-free position, either in containers or potato growing sacks in a sunny spot, watering regularly to keep the compost moist. Each 1kg pack contains approximately 8–14 tubers, making this 3kg collection a perfect way to enjoy multiple varieties together.
